The Part Time Beauty Hall of Fame: Chanel La Crème Main

It is with great pleasure that I present the Part Time Beauty Hall of Fame — a curated list of products which have consistently outperformed any others in their respective categories, which are unique or innovative, or which have stood the test of time and seen off a host of imitators. Think of it as our version of Into The Gloss’s ITG Top 25 or Violet Grey’s ‘Violet Code’. Put simply, the products featured here are some of the best that money can buy, and we will never include anything that doesn’t meet this brief.

I aim to add to the Part Time Beauty Hall of Fame every other Friday.

Every year, beauty brands large and small release hundreds, if not thousands, of new products onto the market. Most of these generate a minor flurry of excitement (plus the inevitable barrage of sponsored posts, press releases, and paid reviews) before disappearing into nothingness. However, one or two of these new launches become cult classics almost immediately, and we wonder what we ever did without them. Chanel’s La Crème Main is one of these products.

La Crème Main has achieved cult status, and earned its place in the Part Time Beauty Hall of Fame, for two reasons. The first is the packaging — I mean, god, just look at it. When it launched towards the end of last year, La Crème Main’s photogenic pebble-shaped packaging took Instagram by storm, appearing in shelfies and still lives from Australia to Canada and everywhere else in between. But none of these pictures do justice to just how easy and pleasant this product is to use, nor do they convey how lightweight and portable it is. Furthermore, it actually feels good in your hand, as well as making your hands feel good.

The second reason La Crème Main has become a cult product is down to the formula itself. Unlike many hand creams on the market, La Crème Main is absorbed instantly and doesn’t leave a greasy or sticky residue behind (meaning that you can apply it and still carry out basic tasks afterwards!) The lightweight formula contains extracts of iris and may rose and is designed to smooth, soften and brighten the hands, as well as leaving them lightly scented.

The success of the original La Crème Main has led to the creation of two others: the anti-ageing Le Lift version, which comes in über-shiny black packaging, and Texture Riche, which contains shea butter and is ideal for extremely dry hands.

So, does Chanel’s La Crème Main get your vote? Let us know in the comments, or via our Instagram page. :)
