London - RTW SS13 - Burberry Prorsum
City: London
Season: Ready-To-Wear, Spring/Summer 2013
Show: Burberry Prorsum
Long gone it seems are the chavtastic associations that dogged the Burberry brand at the beginning of the ‘00s, replaced instead with through-the-roof revenue and an unrivalled presence across social media. And of all the brands that huddle beneath the Burberry umbrella - London, Brit, Sport - the Prorsum line, headed up by the very talented Christopher Bailey, is the real jewel in the crown. Spring/Summer 2013 was quite a departure for the label with loudmouth brights taking to the runway in place of the brand’s signature earthy shades. Burberry Prorsum’s usual linchpin, the beige-hued trench coat, was usurped by a snow-white version for spring, as showcased by Cara Delevingne (top left) and Constance Jablonski (centre right). Otherwise it was paintbox brights and Quality Street shine aplenty: see Jourdan Dunn’s shimmering taffeta trench (bottom left), and Kate King’s gorgeous Schiaparelli pink cocoon coat (bottom centre). The shine factor reached a crescendo with Sara Blomqvist’s slinky sheath (bottom right), taking the Burb out of the country and into the discotheque. Loud.
