Paris - RTW SS13 - Elie Saab

City: Paris
Season: Ready-To-Wear, Spring/Summer 2013
Show: Elie Saab

While in general I tend to prefer fawning over Elie Saab’s Haute Couture shows - they are never anything less than magical - the Lebanese designer’s Pret-à-Porter collections also happen to be very easy on the eye. With a blindingly starry client list including Blake Lively and Evan Rachel Wood, not to mention that gown worn by Halle Berry at the 74th Academy Awards in 2002, Elie Saab is a designer with some serious A-list sway. And so it was fitting that the designer dubbed his Spring/Summer 2013 collection the Heiress, what with having such a monied clientele and all, and the clothes certainly did scream rich. Not idle rich, however - the Elie Saab lady has a point to prove and a job to do, plus a whole host of paintbox shades to do it in. Royal blue and lipstick red were the most prominent colours, with Sigrid Agren’s separates demonstrating the former (top left) and Magdalena Frackowiak’s exquisite lace the latter (bottom centre). It did get a little ‘iced tea on the porch at the Kennedy compound’ at times, a theme enhanced by Taylor Swift’s presence in the front row, however the eye-catching prints showcased by California girls Ruby Aldridge (centre) and Mackenzie Drazan (top centre) just about saved the collection from strait-laced overkill. All in all this is a collection perfectly suited to one particular type of woman.
