The Part Time Beauty Hall of Fame: Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner

When it comes to make-up, I am admittedly a bit of a one-trick pony. Or maybe two or three tricks, tops. One of these ‘tricks’ is a feline flick, and its a look I revisit time and again, a favourite since I was fifteen. While my early efforts were undoubtedly shoddy — after all, winged eyeliner can be fiendishly difficult — I’d like to think I have it down to a fine art now. And, if I do, it is probably only thanks to Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner (pictured here in Black Ink).

In order to execute the perfect feline flick/wing, you essentially have two options: liquid eyeliner or gel eyeliner. Liquid eyeliner, which usually comes in pen form, is convenient but trickier to work with, while gel eyeliner, which usually comes in a pot and requires a separate brush, is less portable but much more foolproof. The first gel eyeliner I ever used was MAC’s Pro Longwear Fluidline, which isn’t terrible, but there’s a reason this version from Bobbi Brown wins multiple accolades every single year.

First of all, it is very aptly named. This is the only gel eyeliner I’ve used that actually lasts all day, from 6 a.m. to midnight even, without fading or smudging in the socket. (I have the greasiest eyelids in the world, so if it doesn’t smudge in mine, it won’t smudge in yours.) Furthermore, unlike many liquid eyeliners out there, it is easy to manipulate and you don’t have to worry about it running or bleeding while you’re still trying to apply it — bonus! Also, although I have ultimately re-purchased this product several times over the many years I’ve been using it, I am always pleasantly surprised by just how long the pot itself lasts.

I’ve only ever used Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink and Caviar Ink, the jet black and black-brown shades, however it is available in a total of 11 shades, encompassing everything from emerald green to violet purple. I can’t think of another gel eyeliner that’s available in such a wide range of shades, so consider this another point in this product’s favour.

So, does Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner get your vote? Let us know in the comments, or via our Instagram page. :)
