New York - RTW SS13 - Alexander Wang

City: New York
Season: Ready-To-Wear, Spring/Summer 2013
Show: Alexander Wang

Let me preface this by saying that I love Alexander Wang. Although his diffusion line (T by Alexander Wang) may be more within my price range I still cannot help but emit a giddy squeal whenever the new mainline collection is unveiled, and this latest outing is no exception. Spring/Summer 2013 is a study in perfect symmetry - there is not an asymmetrical shape in sight - and Wang’s sharp, clinical cuts are complemented well by a palette of black, white, grey and taupe. As yesterday’s show reached a crescendo of sorts the razor sharp lines dissolved into waves, injecting a sense of fun into last season’s bandana-clad warrior girl. Fun, yes, but still every bit as cool. I’m more or less lusting after every last look so picking standouts is proving difficult but, heck, here goes nothing: the waxed hooded jacket on Zuzanna Bijoch (centre) would be more than welcome in my wardrobe, as would the cutaway lurex knit worn by Jourdan Dunn (top centre), and the crisp collared shirt on Nadja Bender (bottom centre), and Vanessa Axente’s neat leather waistcoat (bottom right)…OK, I promise I’m done now.
