New York - RTW SS13 - Proenza Schouler

City: New York
Season: Ready-To-Wear, Spring/Summer 2013
Show: Proenza Schouler

Proenza. Schouler. Proenza Schouler. Ah, just hearing those two names together sends a sartorial shiver along my spine! Hot on the heels of opening their first standalone boutique - on Madison Avenue no less - Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have delivered yet another knockout collection, confirming that the Proenza Schouler girl is without doubt the coolest chick on the planet. The Proenza boys are well known for their unrivalled use of textiles - their approach is at once artisanal and undoubtedly futuristic - and Spring/Summer 2013 really kicked this up a notch. Laser-cut leather jackets, such as the scarlet red beauty sported by Katlin Aas (centre) well and truly stole the show, while the python prints seen on new face Wylie Hays (bottom centre) and Aussie Julia Nobis (top centre) epitomised the Proenza Schouler girl: edgy, uncompromising and ever so slightly undone. The real surprise came in the form of those closing dresses. Just look at the prints, the faces, the scenery. Its as if David Hockney and Friedensreich Hundertwasser had a baby and then transformed it into a garment! In the words of one Rachel Zoe…I die. Really, I do.
