New York - RTW SS13 - Rag & Bone
City: New York
Season: Ready-To-Wear, Spring/Summer 2013
Show: Rag & Bone
Rag & Bone is one of my favourite design houses and I am fortunate enough to own a few very versatile pieces of theirs - a pewter silk trench dress, a snug knitted sweater which looks great worn over a collared shirt, and a pair of coated black skinny jeans with some biker-tastic zips at the hips. And speaking of bikers, there was a clear motocross influence at play in the looks David Neville and Marcus Wainwright sent marching down the spring runway. See Aymeline Valade’s snazzy leather pants with contrasting stripe (top left), or Katlin Aas’ ultra-cropped jacket replete with padded shoulders (bottom left). Even accessories were given a racing spin, with some models showcasing sunglasses that were a lot less Jackie O and rather more Bradley Wiggins. Yet any sporting overkill was skilfully avoided by Messrs. Neville and Wainwright, with lace trim and floaty foulards adding an unexpected softness. However my absolute favourite piece has to be the Day-Glo green biker jacket worn by Josephine Skriver (top centre). Best showcased against a neutral or monochrome palette, I will certainly be coveting it come spring time.
